Join a remote-first digital marketing environment where SEO, client strategy, and emerging AI search technologies come together. In this senior role, you’ll manage a portfolio of client accounts while leading sophisticated SEO strategies across technical, on-page, content, and off-site disciplines. You’ll act as a trusted strategic advisor, translating complex SEO insights and evolving search trends into clear business recommendations. A key part of the role will be helping clients adapt to AI-influenced discovery, conversational search, and changing SERP experiences. You’ll also help shape AI-enhanced content workflows and strategies designed to improve visibility across emerging search ecosystems. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on SEO expertise, account leadership, analytical thinking, and forward-looking digital strategy in a collaborative team.

Accountabilities

  • Manage a portfolio of SEO clients as the primary point of contact, ensuring strong relationships, consistent delivery, clear communication, and measurable results.
  • Lead client meetings, performance reviews, strategic planning sessions, and discussions around SEO priorities and emerging AI search trends.
  • Set and manage expectations around timelines, deliverables, performance, and strategic objectives.
  • Educate clients on SEO value, performance metrics, search behaviour, and developments in AI-powered discovery.
  • Conduct detailed keyword research to identify growth opportunities, content gaps, and search-intent opportunities.
  • Perform on-page SEO audits and implement recommendations across site structure, content hierarchy, internal linking, and search intent.
  • Develop, write, or commission high-quality SEO content aligned with organic growth objectives.
  • Support ethical link acquisition and off-site SEO initiatives through outreach, relationship-building, and authority development.
  • Oversee technical SEO improvements, including structured data, site architecture, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Lead the use of AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, SurferSEO, and NeuronWriter to improve content ideation, production, and optimisation workflows.
  • Develop AI search optimisation strategies designed to improve visibility across conversational and AI-powered search experiences, including featured snippets, summarisation systems, voice search, and zero-click results.
  • Monitor search algorithm updates, emerging AI technologies, and changes in user intent and discovery behaviour.
  • Track campaign performance using GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Looker Studio, and related SEO platforms.
  • Analyse performance data, identify opportunities, and translate insights into clear client-facing recommendations and reports.
  • Continuously adapt SEO and AI visibility strategies based on performance data, industry developments, and changes in the search landscape.
  • Contribute to the evolution of SEO services, processes, and AI-enhanced capabilities across the wider team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns and measurable results.
  • Proven experience managing SEO clients or leading accounts within a digital marketing agency, consultancy, or similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical SEO knowledge, including site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals, on-page optimisation, and technical audits.
  • Strong understanding of keyword research, search intent, content strategy, internal linking, authority building, and off-site SEO.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies across multiple clients or industries.
  • Experience using SEO and analytics platforms such as GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Looker Studio.
  • Practical familiarity with AI tools and workflows relevant to SEO, content creation, and optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of AI-influenced search, LLM-based discovery, conversational search, and the evolving relationship between traditional SEO and AI visibility.
  • Ability to identify emerging search trends and translate them into actionable strategies for clients.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Strong client management and stakeholder communication skills, with confidence leading strategic conversations and performance reviews.
  • Highly organised, analytical, adaptable, and comfortable working in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness to complete a practical SEO assessment as part of the selection process, demonstrating strategic thinking across on-page, content, E-E-A-T, off-page, technical SEO, and AI visibility.

Benefits

  • Fully remote working flexibility.
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture.
  • Senior-level position with meaningful influence over SEO strategy and the evolution of digital marketing services.
  • Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Dedicated development budget to support continuous learning.
  • Opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of exciting brands and industries.
  • Regular team meetups and social activities.
  • Open, creative, and collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunity to stay at the forefront of SEO, AI search, and emerging digital marketing technologies.

AI Replacement Risk, explained

We rate every role on how much of the day-to-day work could plausibly be done by current AI tools within the next year or two. It's a judgment call, not a hard science, based on three questions:

Task repeatability — is the work mostly repeatable execution (drafting, formatting, routine audits), or judgment-heavy (strategy, negotiation, prioritization)?
Precedent — are AI tools already doing a meaningful chunk of this work well today, in production, somewhere?
Accountability — does the role carry a decision or relationship someone has to own, not just an output that has to exist?

LOW

Mostly judgment, negotiation, or ownership work. AI assists, it doesn't replace.

MED

A real mix of judgment and repeatable execution. Expect the repeatable half to keep shrinking.

HIGH

Mostly production or output work, with real AI precedent already in the wild.

This is our own read, not a scientific index. Treat it as a conversation starter before you apply, not a scorecard.
