About the role

Thatch is rewiring how health benefits work. We're looking for an SEO & Performance Content Lead to build organic search into a durable growth channel.

You'll own our SEO strategy end to end, from identifying opportunities to building the systems, content, and team that drive meaningful business results. You'll partner closely with Marketing, Product Marketing, and Engineering to make search a core part of how we grow.

What you'll do

  • Own SEO strategy across technical SEO, content, AI search, and organic acquisition.
  • Develop content strategies that answer real buyer questions and drive qualified traffic.
  • Build and scale our SEO function, including hiring and leading the team over time.
  • Partner closely with Engineering to improve site architecture, performance, and technical SEO.
  • Build AI-enabled workflows that improve research, content creation, optimization, and measurement.
  • Establish editorial standards that balance quality with speed.
  • Measure performance across organic traffic, pipeline, and revenue, and use those insights to improve the strategy.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Brand, Legal, and Sales to publish accurate, high-impact content.

What we're looking for

  • You've built or significantly scaled an SEO program.
  • Deep knowledge of technical SEO, content strategy, and AI search.
  • Experience leading SEO for a B2B SaaS or similarly complex business.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve research, content creation, and operational efficiency.
  • Comfort partnering closely with Engineering and Design teams.
  • Experience hiring or managing teams, agencies, or contractors.
  • A track record of connecting SEO investments to business outcomes.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building processes from scratch.

Experience that stands out

  • Built SEO from an early-stage foundation.
  • Grew organic acquisition in a competitive B2B market.
  • Built AI-native workflows for SEO and content operations.
  • Deep technical SEO expertise across site architecture, schema, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Experience with AI search, AI Overviews, or answer engines.

What to expect

We aim to keep the process thoughtful, rigorous, and efficient. Most candidates complete it within three weeks. You can expect:

  • Initial conversation with a recruiter.
  • Hiring manager interview.
  • Live case study.
  • Conversations with members of the team.
  • Final conversation with our leadership team.

Estimated Compensation Range

$160,000—$210,000 USD

AI Replacement Risk, explained

We rate every role on how much of the day-to-day work could plausibly be done by current AI tools within the next year or two. It's a judgment call, not a hard science, based on three questions:

Task repeatability — is the work mostly repeatable execution (drafting, formatting, routine audits), or judgment-heavy (strategy, negotiation, prioritization)?
Precedent — are AI tools already doing a meaningful chunk of this work well today, in production, somewhere?
Accountability — does the role carry a decision or relationship someone has to own, not just an output that has to exist?

LOW

Mostly judgment, negotiation, or ownership work. AI assists, it doesn't replace.

MED

A real mix of judgment and repeatable execution. Expect the repeatable half to keep shrinking.

HIGH

Mostly production or output work, with real AI precedent already in the wild.

This is our own read, not a scientific index. Treat it as a conversation starter before you apply, not a scorecard.
