Full job description

Sourced directly from dave's original listing.

Dave vs. Goliath. We’re Dave.

Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.

Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.

We're looking for an Organic Growth & Discovery Lead to own the on-site and off-site content that makes Dave findable in search and AI answer engines, and to turn that visibility into new members at an efficient cost.

The Opportunity

This role sits within the User Acquisition team and focuses on how Dave gets found. You will own the onsite content portfolio that earns the ranking, the offsite authority that earns the citation, and the reporting that proves any of it worked. Content is the whole job - most of what wins here is a well-built portfolio with real topical authority behind it and the editorial judgment to know what is worth publishing. Dave is an app-first business, so the bar for this channel is filling and converting the web-to-app funnel, generating new members at an efficient cost, not solely traffic acquisition.

You will not own the technical layer. Your Product and martech partner owns site structure, site speed, the technical roadmap, and tooling. You need to be fluent enough in technical aspects of SEO and AEO to know what is limiting discoverability and to make the case for it cross-functionally.

You’ll work closely with teams across brand, content, product, martech, analytics, partnerships, and compliance. AEO is new; not everything will be fully defined - part of the role is helping shape what organic discovery should even mean for a consumer fintech, including how we measure a surface the industry hasn’t standardized yet based on your SEO expertise.

What you Build & Own

  • Channel strategy: Define the strategy and roadmap for organic discovery across search and AI answer engines, and own the forecast, budget, and reporting cadence for marketing leadership.
  • Onsite Content: Own the onsite content portfolio end-to-end: topical authority and content architecture, keyword and prompt research, intent mapping, the editorial roadmap, and the briefs that direct writers and agencies. Write and edit to a publishable standard, and run a consistent cadence of refresh, consolidation, and pruning so the portfolio gets stronger rather than just bigger.
  • Offsite Content & Authority: Own where and how Dave shows up beyond dave.com, including forums, communities like Reddit, and other third-party sources that influence search and AI answers, working with marketing partnership and affiliate teams to earn the placements, coverage, and citations that build real authority.
  • Answer Engine Visibility: Own how Dave shows up in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and AI Overviews, including the measurement approach for citations, share of voice, and accuracy.
  • Technical and tooling partnership: You will partner with Product and Martech leads on the technical work that unlocks discoverability and the tools this channel needs, bringing each a business case they can prioritize against.
  • Measurement & Experimentation: Build the reporting that ties organic and AI-sourced traffic to installs, new members, and acquisition cost efficiency, including the content side of the web-to-app path.
  • Trust & Compliance: Own the trust signals that make Dave's content credible to both search and answer engines: E-E-A-T, sourcing, author attribution, and factual accuracy. Financial content is held to a higher standard, so keep organic practices aligned with fintech regulatory requirements and Dave's brand safety standards.

The Impact

People look for ways to cover a bill before payday in many places, and more of that searching now happens within an AI assistant. The work you build here puts an affordable, transparent option in front of them at that moment, instead of leaving them to whatever surfaces first.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of experience in SEO, content marketing, organic growth, or growth marketing, including at least 2 years of hands-on work on AEO, GEO, or AI search optimization and a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives (specifically for consumer products/b2c).
  • Demonstrated success growing organic into a real acquisition channel measured against a business outcome and cost efficiency rather than traffic, with specific work you can walk through and explain.
  • Onsite content strategy depth - you’ve built topical authority from scratch, mapped content to real search and prompt intent, directed writers through briefs, and made hard calls about what to consolidate or kill, with the writing and editing judgment to hold the work to a publishable standard.
  • Offsite experience earning placements, coverage, or citations through partnerships, affiliates, or digital PR, and the judgment to explain why a given placement was worth pursuing.
  • Current, hands-on experience improving visibility in AI answer engines, and a defensible point of view on how to measure it.
  • Technical and data fluency without needing to be the expert - you can read a site audit, understand how structure and performance affect discoverability, brief a product team credibly, and pull and interrogate your own data in GA4, Search Console, spreadsheets, or SQL.

Bonus if you have

  • Fintech or financial services industry experience
  • Experience with programmatic or templated content at scale
  • Familiar with organic strategies for App channels (App Store Optimization, etc)

What to expect

You own the outcome, not just the ranking. You think about how organic discovery affects the broader business - from acquisition cost to member quality and long-term retention - and you get traction on work you don’t own by bringing a business case rather than a best practice. You exercise judgment about brand safety and regulatory risk without waiting to be policed.

You also work well across teams. Organic discovery requires coordination across product, martech, brand, content, partnerships, and compliance, and you build trust with those partners along the way. When new information changes the path forward, you adjust thoughtfully while keeping momentum. Feedback and collaboration sharpen the work.

You’ll have meaningful ownership in shaping how organic discovery contributes to Dave’s growth. Some opportunities will be clear. Others will require experimentation and creative thinking. Decisions here are grounded in data, member impact, and long-term business outcomes.

Why join Dave

  • Mission-driven impact — You'll build organic growth and discovery strategies for financial products that serve millions of underserved Americans. Your work directly impacts financial health and accessibility for people who need it most.
  • Significant scope and growth — Dave is fast-growing and expanding into multiple new product categories in 2026. You'll have the opportunity to shape a multi-product content strategy across multiple launches and scale from day one.
  • Strategic autonomy — This is a founding role for AEO. You'll have significant autonomy to build strategies, test tactics, and make decisions with limited constraints or playbooks to follow.
  • Strong resources and support — You'll partner with world-class Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing teams equipped to support your initiatives. You'll have the budget to test, learn, and scale.
  • Meaningful challenges — You'll solve complex problems: reaching underserved audiences, building acquisition models for emerging financial products, managing unit economics in competitive channels, and driving profitable growth.

AI Replacement Risk, explained

We rate every role on how much of the day-to-day work could plausibly be done by current AI tools within the next year or two. It's a judgment call, not a hard science, based on three questions:

Task repeatability — is the work mostly repeatable execution (drafting, formatting, routine audits), or judgment-heavy (strategy, negotiation, prioritization)?
Precedent — are AI tools already doing a meaningful chunk of this work well today, in production, somewhere?
Accountability — does the role carry a decision or relationship someone has to own, not just an output that has to exist?

LOW

Mostly judgment, negotiation, or ownership work. AI assists, it doesn't replace.

MED

A real mix of judgment and repeatable execution. Expect the repeatable half to keep shrinking.

HIGH

Mostly production or output work, with real AI precedent already in the wild.
